The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) Postgraduate Forum is pleased to announce plans for its Mid-Term Conference 2023, which will be focused on the theme of Shifting Geographies.
The Mid-Term Conference will be hosted in-person at the Royal Geographical Society in London on Thursday, 20th and Friday, 21st April 2023. This will be the first time the Mid-Term will have been hosted at the RGS-IBG in over fifteen years!
What is the Mid-Term?
The Postgraduate Forum’s Annual Mid-Term Conference is a longstanding feature of Geography’s academic calendar and attracts dozens of postgraduates from across the UK and around the world. The Mid-Term Conference seeks to take a snapshot of the exciting and important research being undertaken by postgraduate geographers on novel topics and in diverse contexts. The Conference affords postgraduates in Geography and cognate fields the opportunity to network with peers and present their research in a friendly, constructive, and informal setting.
The 2023 Mid-Term Conference will include:
- Research presentations by 80+ postgraduate delegates
- Introductory lecture and tour of the RGS-IBG by Dr. Sarah Evans (RGS-IBG)
- Keynote lecture by Dr. Kasia Paprocki (LSE), author of “Threatening Dystopias: The Global Politics of Climate Change Adaptation in Bangladesh”
- Plenary film showcase of Don’t Touch Tariquía, with film-maker and geographer Dr. Penelope Anthias (Durham University)
- Wellbeing workshop with trained mindfulness coach Dr. Esther Anaya-Boig
- ‘Publishing your Research’ Panel with Prof Alan Latham (UCL; Co-Editor, Area)
- Networking opportunities
- Evening social at Market Halls on Thursday evening
